Albright-Knox Art Gallery
Home
of marvelous collection of modern art and contemporary art, Albright-Knox Art
Gallery is located in Delaware Park, directly opposite Buffalo State College
and the Burchfield Penney Art Center. The building of the museum is artistic
beauty in itself, shows the impressive Greek Revival architectural influence.
The museum has a wide collection of several pieces spanning art throughout the
centuries. Glimpses of Impressionistic and Post-Impressionistic styles live
through the works by artists of the nineteenth century such as Paul Gauguin and
Vincent van Gogh. Works by artists like Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Jean
Metzinger, Albert Gleizes, Henri Matisse, and André Derain represent the
revolutionary styles from the early twentieth century such as cubism,
surrealism, and constructivism. Works of artists such as Arshile Gorky, Jackson
Pollock, Clyfford Still, and Andy Warhol dedicated to modern art styles such as
abstract expressionism, pop art, and art of the 1970s. The main highlight of
the gallery is post-war American and European art collection which contains
works of artists such as Kiki Smith, Allan Graham, Georg Baselitz, John
Connell, and Per Kirkeby. Because of its fine collection and dedication towards
art restoration and protection, the gallery won many awards and titles such as in
1978, it was chosen to represent the United States at the 28th Venice Biennale.

Formerly
known as The Buffalo Naval and Servicemen's Park, the famous Buffalo and Erie
County Naval & Military Park is a museum dedicated to pride in the
military. Home to several legendary decommissioned US Naval vessels, including
the Fletcher-class destroyer USS The Sullivans, the Cleveland-class cruiser USS
Little Rock and the submarine USS Croaker. Here you can experience how mariners
and submariners lived and carried out their patriotic duties. Along with the
ships, here you can admire amazing a variety of smaller vehicles, vessels, and
aircraft. These attractions include the Gyrodyne X-Ron 1 Rotorcycle one-man
helicopter- the pride of the US Marine Corps in the late fifties and early
sixties, an Army M41 Walker Bulldog tank used in the Korean War, and a Nasty-class
Fast Patrol Boat (PTF) used by the Navy in Vietnam. New displays related to the
Civil War and WWI are in the works.
